Self-awareness is an incredibly powerful tool for helping us make decisions, take action, and create change. It also helps us show up in our relationships with more honesty and honor the boundaries we need to shine in the world.
I was journaling yesterday morning about different ways I can bring more self-awareness into my life. Now, I do think I am a pretty self-aware person. However sometimes my self-awareness feels pretty surface level. Or I "think" I am one way, but when I go deeper, I realize it is more complex. We all are onions in life, with many layers of who we are and how we show up. Both in the world and with ourselves.
I wrote the below questions to gain more clarity and peel back the layers of self-awareness. I gave myself time with these through two mornings of writing. I didn't rush and had it be ceremonial with a candle, coffee, and one of my favorite crystals (eudialyte - a stone for following your heart and emotional well-being). I wanted to go beyond what I think is "best" and plunge into the depths of my inner knowing where there is knowledge I am not yet aware of.
What is your why? This question is for thinking about your purpose and your passion. What are the motivations and reasons that you do what you do?
What do you need? There are basic necessities to live. Go deeper and ask what you need and what you desire. Recognize what you have right now and identify what the gaps are. What are your core values and how are they showing up in your needs?
How do you want to show up in the world? Do you honor your authentic self and live your truth? Do you know what your truth even is (big question, I know!)? How do you want people describe you and how would you describe yourself? Are those descriptions who you want to be and how you want to be remembered?
What does fulfillment look like to you? Think about your definition of success and satisfaction in all areas of your life. Are there things you want more of? Are there things you want less of?
Answering these questions thoughtfully builds the self-awareness muscles. They can provide clarity on goal setting and manifesting. Helping to align our truth, our thoughts and our energy with our actions.
When you review your own answers, think about one change to live more intentionally. Make it small, attainable, and doable in the next few weeks. Then celebrate yourself when you complete it, knowing you are on the path to deeper self-awareness and a life of joy.
